We’re back!

September 13, 2016

We hope you had a great summer! Can you believe we’re into another school year, already?!

We are open again for the 2016-2017 school year, providing programs for youth Grade 8-12. Take a look at the current offering of programs that we’ve started up (listed below), and see which one suits you best. We’d love to have you join us!

Tuesdays from 7pm-9pm
Thursdays from 7pm-10pm
We are open for drop-in so youth can come hang out, play games, chat, stand on the deck, drink pop, eat chips and socialize together. We have a solid group of staff and volunteers that oversee the youth that are at the Switch Yard during this time, engaging with them and offering a positive ear or conversation. We’ll also challenge you to a game of pool, and if you beat us, you might get a free pop on us ๐Ÿ™‚

RIZE Sr. Youth Programs:
Wednesdays after school – 7:30pm ~ sometimes we do a study on something that the Bible says, and sometimes we do a few hours of service to our community. Either way, it’s a great time to socialize with friends and grow together.
Fridays from 7-10pm –
we tend to have a really fun time at an outing (movies, lazer tag, gym nights, etc), or have a solid social and games night just hanging out together.

RIZE UP (Stay Tuned! …dates and time to be determined) – RIZE Up is a new opportunity to grow and be like Christ inside and outside our community. Stay tuned for more information, and email if you want more information.

Any questions: let us know! Call 613-332-3108, or email:
Hope to see you around ๐Ÿ™‚

Summer at the Switch Yard

August 4, 2015

Summer updates!
Our first Switch Yard Ball Hockey House League season has come to an end. The finals were played on Monday, July 20th, with three teams reigning champs in their divisions.
The league operated on Monday nights from May 11th to July 20th from 6:30pm to 9:30pm at North Hastings Community Center.ย  For its first year, we saw 105 participants in the 3 divisions – we felt this was an amazing turnout, and with the excitement and interest generated this year, next year should be even bigger!

Many thanks go out to our league sponsors: Boyer Auto Group and Gaebel Insurance, as well as Pepinโ€™s No Frills for donating the championship medals.ย  Also, thanks goes to Freymond Lumber for donating the 4×4 barriers, Graphite Bible Camp and other individuals who helped provide goalie equipment, and Ron and Steve at North Hastings Community Center for all of their work.ย  Finally, from everyone at the Switch Yard, we want to say a huge thanks to our volunteers who generously gave of their time to coach or run the time clock.

BBQ Fundraiser – Thank You!

June 10, 2015

To everyone who supported the Switch Yard BBQ, thank you!
We had an amazing evening! We raised significantly more than 2014, hitting and exceeding our goals. This sets us up really well for programming for the 2015-2016 year.
A special thanks goes out to our community donors – without their generosity, we would not be able to have such a successful raffle and live auction. Please remember to support our local businesses, who support their local organizations.

From the Board, Directors, and Switch Yard community, Thank you.

Fall/Winter 2014

November 6, 2014

The Switch Yard programs & activities are in full swing for this fall & winter, and we’re having a great time!
Here’s what’s going on:

Education Program – students come to do their school work at the Switch Yard. We provide light snacks, one-on-one tutoring, computers for school work, and support for their day-to-day needs (Tuesdays & Thursdays).
Boys/Girls Club – after school program for grades 6-8. We play games, exercise proper manners, social skills and eat a “family meal” together (every Tuesday).
Drop-in nights – a social gathering for any youth aged 12-18 (grades 8-12+). We play games inside and outside, prepare meals and eat together, hang out, chat, have fun! Awesome volunteers inspire positive conversation, play games, and build friendships with the youth (Tuesdays & Thursday nights).
RIZE Sr. Youth Group:
Youth Alpha
video series runs alternating Wednesday nights, and we talk about timeless questions about life, faith and God. Real questions welcome, and we’ll find real, Jesus-inspired answers. It’s a great starting point of understanding faith and God.
iCare – Alternating Wednesdays, we participate in community service jobs around the town of Bancroft for people in need. This has included stacking wood, raking leaves, making meals, making baby blankets, baking for bake sales, and more! We like to think we’re “The hands and feet of Jesus” in our community by spreading God’s love through our actions.
Friday night fun – Youth are invited to come hang out and participate in our weekly Friday nights & have fun! We have games nights, go to events, plan events, have retreats, go camping… and way more.

If you have any questions about our programs or would like to participate, call or email us! We’d love to hear from you.
